Ending and Post-Credits Scene Explained—Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2
Captain Price at the end of Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 (2022)

After killing Major Hassan Zyani and stopping his missile from destroying Washington DC, Price, Laswell, Soap, Ghost, and Gaz all meet for a drink. Task Force 141 was successful in their mission and they escaped the clutches of the Shadow Company. It’s a good ending for the most part until Laswell comes with some bad news.

Laswell shows Price a photo of someone who Russians have begun working with, someone who poses a much bigger threat. The photo is revealed to be Makarov’s and Price instantly recognizes him. This ending sets up Makarov as the big bad for the next Call of Duty game.

Long-time Call of Duty: Modern Warfare fans know who Makarov is. Vladimir Makarov was the villain of the original Modern Warfare 2 (2009) and it’s most likely that MW2 (2022)’s Makarov is the same one that Call of Duty fans know.

He was the mastermind behind the events of the original Modern Warfare games so this tease is sure to get long-time fans of the series excited.

Modern Warfare 2 Post-Credits Scene Explained

Vladimir Makarov in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 (2009)

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 has a post-credits scene which is a nod to the original Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 (2009) but also sets up the next entry in the series. The post-credits scene which is also the final cutscene of the game is set aboard a plane.

In this post-credits scene, a man is shown assembling a pistol while texting others, asking them if they’re ready. When they confirm they’re ready, the camera pulls back as three armed men get up from their seats and move up the plane. The final text message reads “No Russian”.

“No Russian” is the name of one of the most controversial missions in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 (2009) in which the player carries out a terrorist attack on a Russian airport. This mission also marks the first time players meet Makarov.

So, it’s evident that the next game is going to feature the ” No Russian” mission in some shape or form and will also feature Makarov as the main antagonist of the game.
