Modern Warfare 2 May Have a Marketplace to Let Players Trade Items

Call of Duty has established itself as such a heavyweight in the gaming industry; it almost doesn’t feel like we’ve rolled into the next year without the announcement of a new game in the franchise.

Fortunately, the makers followed a traditional annual release schedule this time too and announced Modern Warfare 2 as the next CoD. Now, while Activision was kind enough to acknowledge the existence of its upcoming shooter, it did not shed much light on it.

There are still a lot of knowledge gaps that have been left unfilled consequently, which do not favor those who are nervously speculating about all that the upcoming title has to offer. Thankfully, this is where the ever-working rumor mill comes into action. By revealing every bit of leaked information, it keeps fans in the loop about recent events.

This time around, the notable TheGhostOfHope is in the public eye as the leaker has some exciting details on CoD: Modern Warfare 2 to share.

Besides the campaign and multiplayer, Modern Warfare 2 will reportedly also pack a third mode known as DMZ that’s heavily inspired by Escape From Tarkov. Ghost claims that this new dedicated mode will feature a marketplace where items can be bought and traded.

This means that just like Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, MW2 players will be able to earn operator and weapon skins, blueprints, and more from ‘DMZ’ and use them across Multiplayer and eventually Warzone 2.

As impressive as it sounds, how flexible this feature actually is, remains to be seen. It isn’t known if tradeable items would be limited to only a particular section of skins or extend to skins earned apart from the DMZ, such as through the in-game store.

For now, all we can do is wait to find out how Activision will run this function. Hopefully, the campaign reveal that supposedly takes place on June 9 at Summer Game Fest will be able to make head or tail of this leak.
