Mortal Kombat 1-First Online Stress Test Now Available for Signups

Mortal Kombat 1 is set to launch this October, but it seems like players don’t have to wait much longer to get a taste of how the game plays. It was revealed a couple of days ago with a gorgeous and over-the-top brutal cinematic trailer, featuring some familiar faces from previous titles like Liu Kang, Scorpion, Sub-Zero among others.

Mortal Kombat 1 - Official Announcement Trailer

The game will pick up where Mortal Kombat 11’s Aftermath DLC ended, with Fire God Liu Kang resetting the timeline and creating a New Era. The cinematic trailer gave us our first look at the reset timeline, featuring iconic characters with never-before-seen looks. We’ll get our first look of the gameplay on June 8 at Summer Game Fest.

Mortal Kombat’s official Twitter account shared a link to the sign-up page for an online stress test, which will arrive before the game’s launch. It was revealed that the stress test will be held to see how well the game’s servers hold up and to ensure a flawless release in September.

It’s still unknown when it’ll be held or when the invites will be sent to the players who sign up. Players that want to sign up for the stress test will need to have a Warner Bros. Games account, and after signing up, they’ll be prompted to select the console on which they wish to play. It’s worth noting that the stress test is only limited to PS5 and Xbox Series X|S as of now.

It’s good to see NetherRealm take this step, as it will ensure a polished release considering the number of games that are releasing these days in a broken state. The stress test will help in finding and fixing any bugs that might occur in the game in order to polish it as well as possible before it’s released globally.

Mortal Kombat 1 will not only usher in a new era of the franchise, but it’ll also bring some major improvements to the gameplay, including a new fighting system and new mechanics. Luckily, players don’t have to wait much longer to play it, and those that aren’t that lucky can always pre-order the game to receive beta and early access.

Mortal Kombat 1 is set to release this October 12 for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch and PC.

About Mortal Kombat 1

Developer NetherRealm Studios has officially revealed Mortal Kombat 1, the next chapter in its long-running fighting game series, which was released on September 19th. It takes on that name, rather than the expected Mortal Kombat 12 name, because–as previous teasers hinted at–Mortal Kombat 1 is a sort-of-reboot of the series and takes place in the New Era timeline established by Liu Kang after he ascended to godhood in 2019’s Mortal Kombat 11.
