MSI’s New RTX 3080 Ti Graphics Card May be Ready to Launch

The global chip shortage has shown us just how bad things can get when it comes to gaming and PC hardware availability. Companies such as NVIDIA, AMD, Sony, and Xbox, along with the customers looking to purchase their products, have been left high and dry, thanks to the shortage. With some sources indicating that the GeForce RTX 3080 Ti may be launching soon, people are hopeful that it marks the return of tech stocks in the market. Now, a new report points to this coming to pass, and maybe soon.

There is a chance that MSI, well-known for specializing in computer hardware and graphics cards, maybe launching its own version of the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 Ti sometime this month. Titled the SURPIM X, the photo clearly shows a 3080 Ti, at least the box, with reports stating that it may soon hit the market. It should be noted that there is no official word from MSI or NVIDIA regarding the card, and while the image may raise a lot of people’s hopes, it is just speculation at this point.

This just confirms what people have already been guessing up to this point. But the photo isn’t really proof of things to come. With rumors stating that the chip shortage could go on till 2023, it’s very possible that the short supply of chip-based hardware maybe something people will face a while to come. That being said, it’s understandable if news like this has people hopeful for a light at the end of the tunnel.

Much of the GPU shortage can be blamed on the COVID-19 pandemic, which forced millions of people to stay home with gaming as one of their only fun hobbies. Cryptominers and scalpers buying up graphics cards in bulk and leaving very little for others is another cause.

Companies like AMD and NVIDIA have discussed releasing graphics cards with cryptomining limiters installed, but hackers seem to be able to bypass them with ease as well. The launch of their dedicated Cryptomining Processors (CMP) may be the answer to keep cryptominers away from gaming dedicated cards.

Currently, the leak suggests that new NVIDIA-based tech is on the way, so there may some good news for PC gamers on the horizon. But only time will tell if this new card too will be hoarded off by scalpers and cryptominers, or even by companies looking to up their cryptomining capabilities.
