Need for Speed Website’s Countdown: What Does it Mean?

Over at Need for Speed’s official website, EA seems to be brewing something new for all of us.

Right now, a countdown has been placed on the site that’ll end in a few hours, at around 8 am PDT tomorrow, October 5th.

Now, provided I don’t completely suck at calculations and math, there’s certainly seems to be a big surprise waiting for us at that time.

The website’s countdown is accompanied by a single line, “5:10. How did he go so fast? Five ten. “Call Big Joe’s Pizzeria on 0800-510-510-510.” There’s got to be a way to fix this.”

One thing many may have already noticed is the emphasis on fives and tens. After all, there’s way too many of them in a single line for it to be considered a coincidence!

Of course, it isn’t some secret Illuminati handshake or anything; it just seems to be a reference to the day when the countdown ends, that is, tomorrow on October 5th.

However, if we truly wish to read between the lines here, 510 is also an area code in East Bay, California. Not to mention, 510 is also a code in the California Vehicle Code for Speeding Vehicles.

A lot of California being mentioned here. Coincidence? I think not!

But then, all of this begs the question; what is EA referring to, with all the 510s and the countdown?

Many people believe that EA is now finally going to drop the announcement for the rumored remastered version of Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit, as seen by the leaks dropped by Amazon UK two months ago.

But, and that’s a big but, if that’s truly the case, then this is something we should be really excited about!

Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit was a solid entry in the franchise that incorporated the elements of both its predecessor and criterion’s Burnout series of video games.

While it didn’t receive as much attention as Need for Speed’s last take on the cops-n-robbers formula, Most Wanted, it still was an amazing game regardless!

If that game is receiving is remaster, then it’s truly a great opportunity for all of us to experience the thrill of the chase once more!
