After months of rumors and speculation, this year’s Call of Duty outing, Call of Duty: Vanguard, was revealed last week. New info for the game has been dropping consistently ever since, and now, Call of Duty has revealed details about Vanguard’s first alpha.
Vanguard’s first alpha will be exclusive to PlayStation and take place from August 27, 10 AM PT to August 29, 10 AM PT. The alpha will also give players access to the new Champion Hill mode, which is said to be a mix of Battle Royale and Gunfight.
Like most Call of Duty games, the alpha will probably have a large file size, so the ability to pre-load will come in handy. According to the PlayStation Blog, fans can begin pre-loading today, on August 23, at 10 AM PT. The blog also lists alpha links for PS4 and PS5.
Once you have installed the alpha, you can play it from Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, Call of Duty: Warzone, or Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War.
The alpha is free and does not require a pre-order of the full game or a PlayStation Plus subscription. But those who have pre-ordered the game will get exclusive rewards like the Night Raid Mastercraft Weapon Blueprint for immediate use in Black Ops Cold War and Warzone.
Additionally, all participants in the alpha will receive a Calling Card and Emblem to use in Call of Duty: Vanguard and Call of Duty: Warzone once the integration of both is complete.
The most exciting part of this alpha is undoubtedly the all-new Champion Hill mode. Champion Hill will give players the chance to compete solo or with seven other squads in groups of two or three. Each player or group will start with a limited number of lives, and the goal will be to cut the total lives of other squads down to zero. The last squad or player standing wins.
There is no news on when the alpha will arrive for other platforms, but it should be available soon since the PlayStation one is already here.
