Rockstar’s Red Dead Redemption 2 is, without any doubt, the most visually impressive game you can get your hands on. In terms of realism and art style, it still remains unmatched and offers a tear-jerking plot that sends you down the depths of despair.
This sandbox game by Rockstar is complete in every sense but lacks just one feature – compatibility with AMD’s upscaling tech. Thankfully now, this drawback has kicked the bucket as a new mod that adds AMD’s recently launched FSR 2.0 to the open-world RPG has been shared online.
A modder named RealIndica replaced Red Dead Redemption 2’s Nvidia DLSS library with AMD FSR 2.0 files to optimize the team Red’s upscaling tech with the title. This unofficial support for Rockstar’s sandbox will improve your experience in the Wild West by revamping its visuals and performance.
A video shared by benchmarking channel MxbenchmarkPC on YouTube further reveals just how promising the mod is. As you’ll notice in the video, the difference between the DLSS 2.4 and FSR 2.0 is barely noticeable.
While the mod does understandably face a few frame drops in contrast to the team Green’s tech, both innovations are maintaining 100fps at 1440p on an Nvidia RTX 3080.
Given that Nvidia DLSS 2.4 only works with newer RTX models, the boon of having AMD FSR 2.0 mod installed is that it also goes with older graphic cards, including the aging GeForce GTX models.
This Red Dead Redemption 2 mod is available on Nexus Mods with installation instructions posted. Just be aware that since this is an unofficial upscaling alternative, it comes with its own share of notable bugs and issues.
Thankfully, this does not mean you’ll have to play a broken game, as the patches concerning FSR 2.0 bugs are most likely to be handled by the modder himself and the rest of the open-source community.
