New Overwatch 2 Bug Makes Sombra Invincible to Regular Enemy Fire

Overwatch 2 is not new to bugs and glitches. A hero lockout bug prevented players from selecting their pre-owned heroes in matches. Another login error caused hours of queue times as players from around the world attempted to log into the game at once. Looks like there’s another one you should look out for.

An Overwatch 2 bug makes Sombra invincible to enemy fire, as she can hide inside the payload.

Using her stealth ability with some moves, Sombra can easily dive into the payload, and move along with it during a match. While inside the payload, she is immune to most enemy damage.

Keep in mind, Sombra is still vulnerable to some special penetrable abilities, such as Hanzo’s ultimate which can pass through walls. This has stirred up the Overwatch community, who believe the bug gives an unfair advantage to players opting for Sombra in matchmaking.

Torbjorn and Bastion were both removed from competitive mode due to similar bugs that gave them an upper hand. Torbjorn could use his Overload ability twice in a row, while Bastion was firing off way more projectiles than intended.

In the original Overwatch, a similar bug allowed Tracer to stay in the payload so there might be a possibility that other heroes can also do what Sombra can. Although, that does not mean the bug should not receive immediate attention.

Blizzard is continuously working on fixing problems since the game was launched. The studio will be giving away a legendary skin at zero cost for all the troubles players had to face.

Overwatch 2 is available on PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.

The sequel to the 2016 hero shooter Overwatch, the game is intended to have a shared environment for player-versus-player (PvP) modes with the first game while introducing persistent cooperative modes. A major change in PvP was to reduce team sizes from six to five, which required several characters to be reworked.

Overwatch 2 is set to launch as free-to-play on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Windows, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S in early access on October 4, 2022. It will feature full cross-platform play.
