There’s a New Breakthrough in the AC Valhalla Saint-Denis Mystery

Thanks to The Siege of Paris DLC, Assassin’s Creed Valhalla players have struggled to solve an in-game mystery for a while. In the DLC’s map, there is a location marked called Saint-Denis, home to a church. In the church grounds, there is a trapdoor that leads underground to a secret room.

The room houses an Isu Temple, previously seen in Assasin’s Creed Unity, but access to the same is blocked. But here’s the kicker: some hidden Isu writing nearby led to an ARG (Alternate Reality Game), which links to the real-life church in France.

ARGs have become an Assasin’s Creed staple due to Ubisoft’s penchant for mixing real-world tasks with in-game elements. Seeing how the current ARG involves the Saint-Denis Church, some fans theorised that the real-world location could hold some clues for the ARG. And that theory proved to be spot on.

Within the Saint-Denis Basilica, Reddit user RichardYing (and by extension Gamerant) discovered a Ubisoft-planted posterboard with the Assassin’s Creed Valhalla logo and a QR code, which led to a previously undiscovered video.

The first line of text within the video says, “Basilica of Saint-Denis Secret Unlocked.” What follows is more text written in the mysterious Isu language, which ARG participants will have to translate.

AccessTheAnimus, a prominent Assasin’s Creed fan page known for producing in-depth content concerning the franchise, has been hard at work uncovering info since RichardYing discovered the video. Unfortunately, the results have not been too exciting.

The Isu text translates to “You are looking for what is part of you. I for what I am. How much are you willing to sacrifice?” This line has already been found on fan kits sent out before the Siege of Paris DLC release. So, it’s nothing new. But many fans also think that there is more to this clue than meets the eye.

Naturally, there is no official info on what the next step in the hunt is. The trail seems to go cold after one visit to the Basilica, so it appears that the ARG just wanted fans to visit the church. But many people believe that additional clues remain hidden in the DLC that might enlighten fans on what to do next.

This is undoubtedly more frustrating for fans living outside France and those following from home since they can’t visit the Basilica to investigate in person. An in-game conclusion would be a win for all involved, and hopefully, fans will discover something leading to that very soon.

Assassin’s Creed Valhalla and the Siege of Paris DLC are available to play on PC, PS4|5, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S.
