Exploring the world of Valheim is a dangerous activity. Not only can you die in a hundred different ways during your exploration, but your camp could be ransacked while you’re away. At times like these, the importance of a group of friends becomes evident, and, fortunately, there is now a mod available that allows for exactly that.
First spotted by PCGamesN, the mod is titled the Fantasy Followers Pack, created by Salpati. This mod allows players to recruit a D&D-style party to bring along on their Viking adventures or to task them to stay back and guard your camp. Each character comes with their own set of weapons, armor, and abilities based on traditional RPG classes.
The mod’s description reads,
Adds some custom RPG-style party Npc Followers to the game, with custom abilities & weapons/armor from other mods. You can get this [sic] followers by Crafting their summoning totem, which will spawn them next to you! Command them to stay and protect your base/village or follow you on your adventure.

Your entire crew can also be healed by giving them character-specific items. Here is the team you will be able to recruit,
- Derian: A knight equipped with a shield that can protect the player from projectiles and other tank-like duties.
- Erandil: A ranger equipped with a runic bow and poison arrows that inflict DPS damage on enemies.
- Hendrick: A Dwarf warrior who switches between his crystal battle-ax and iron sled, giving him the ability to perform quick slash attacks and area-of-effect damage.
- Carkuil: A sage who can heal members of the party and inflict elemental damage on enemies.
- Sinduel: A scholar with the ability to unleash her mastery over the element of frost on her enemies.
- Tallin: A halfling thief specializing in sneak attacks on unaware enemies with his dagger.
Valheim developer Iron Gate has been excited about the performance of their game on the Steam Deck. “Valheim worked pretty much as-is on the Steam Deck without any real issues, both the Linux version and through proton.”
Given that the Steam Deck also will support mods, it will be interesting to see how this mod, along with others, will function in Valheim.
