New Valheim Patch Released to Rebalance Food Following Complaints

Through the Hearth and Home update, developer Iron Gate brought a plethora of changes and new content to Valheim. One major tweak brought to the game impacted its food systemThe meals were reworked to mainly boost either one of the health or stamina instead of enhancing both.

Serpent stew, for example, used to benefit both health and stamina by 80 points. However, due to the update, the food item now buffs stamina by only 5 points.

Players could also see a colored fork next to food items: Red was used for health-boosting foods while yellow indicated foods that would buff stamina. White was used for items benefiting both health and stamina.

The idea behind this massive change was to make players customize their diet as per their objectives. Valheim offers a vast array of activities that range from killing bosses to constructing structures. Therefore, players could use each food item strategically to make them align with their goals.

Hearth and Home Update

Unfortunately, the tweaks brought by Hearth and Home update to Valheim’s food system didn’t sit well with enthusiasts. Many claimed that this change was “too harsh” as it makes an already tricky game even more difficult.

But like always, Iron Gate lent fans an ear and listened to their grievances. After collecting feedback, the studio tweeted about a new patch 0.202.19 that will rebalance the newly-revised food system, among many other changes.

After releasing a sizeable DLC like Hearth and Home, most devs would take it easy and roll out patches after some time. This is where Iron Gate stands out from the rest, and this is why Valheim’s the talk of the indie town!

Here is a full list of improvements that patch 0.202.19 patch will bring to Valheim:

  • Rebalanced hp/stamina on most foods ( more stamina on hp foods and more hp on stamina foods etc )
  • Fixed tar-pit not spawning on dedicated-server worlds
  • Slightly lower hp on Fulings & Fuling shamans
  • Slightly easier to stagger Fulings
  • Fixed issue with pressing I in server list while trying to filter servers
  • Lower bow stamina use
  • Cage wall 1×1 physics fix ( Already placed pieces will probably need to be repositioned )
  • Boars now also eat blueberries, raspberries & mushrooms
  • Chinese translation fix
