New World’s Ancient Heart Item Location and What to Craft with It

Like most MMOs, Amazon’s New World is all about exploration, fighting, and getting new gear. While a decent amount of that gear will come through drops and finds, some of it has to be crafted using specific ingredients. A new item, the Empty Ancient Heart, has dropped in New World that allows you to prepare the Void Gauntlet, but getting the item is a bit trickier than it seems.

Where to Find The Empty Ancient Heart Item?

Currently, it seems the Empty Ancient Heart item drop is entirely random. Players over on the New World subreddit have said they aren’t sure where it dropped, but they found it sitting in their inventory. One commenter has said,

Dropped from a MYRK run. Not sure exactly where it dropped from. I just checked my inv and saw a new item that isn’t listed on TP or for any crafted weapons I currently know.

Another stated that they got it from Fay the Last Protector situated east of the Shattered Mountains, in the Blighted Wilds area.

What is the Empty Ancient Heart?

This new Tier V Legendary item can be used to craft an ingredient necessary to create the Void Gauntlets. It has 0.3 weight, and you can carry a max stack of 10000. The description of the item reads as,

The empty heart of a long-dead ancient construct, now filled with Nothingness. Perhaps it can be used to craft a powerful magical item?

Crafting Use of Empty Ancient Heart

The Empty Ancient Heart can be used to craft the Void Gauntlets, Nothingness. This Gauntlet is a powerful Legendary weapon that offers 162 Void Damage and a host of other buffs and damage multipliers. The Void Gauntlets scale with Intelligence (90%) and Focus (65%).

However, there seems to be a bug many players have been encountering , where the required ingredient to craft the Void Gauntlet in the game shows up as the Eternal Ice Material instead of the Empty Ancient Heart.

While Eternal Ice is a necessary item for the Gauntlet, many feel that this doesn’t make sense, as the description for the Heart states it is filled with Nothingness and the craft option for the Gauntlet only appeared once players had the Empty Ancient Heart in their inventory. The same is reflected in the New World Database, which states

Empty Ancient Heart must be present in your inventory or the settlement’s storage for the recipe to show up in the crafting station.

This appears to be another bug in the long list of bugs plaguing New World. However, this is major as it stops people from crafting a Legendary piece of gear, and we’re hoping they rectify the issue quickly. Until then, players should hang onto the Empty Ancient Heart if they desire to craft the Void Gauntlets.
