Ever since the release of Amazon Games’ newest venture into the MMO world, a.k.a, New World, MMO veterans have been on a grind trying to be the best adventurer known to Aeturnum.
From waiting in long queues to picking out the correct server for your team, it seems like New World has wholly taken over the world of online gaming.
While New World has so much to offer, getting into the game isn’t as easy as it looks, thanks to the super long queue times experienced by players.
So, it was natural that once a player got in the game, he’d want to avoid getting out after experiencing the wait time. To avoid this wait after quitting and rejoining, some players found a nifty way to stay in the game for hours on end.
These players started hotkey-ing the W key and ran into walls to make their characters stay moving instead of standing still and getting AFK-kicked.
But, the devs have caught on to these not-so-new tricks and have issued a statement claiming that they will be taking severe action against these supposed wall-runners.
The development team has not clearly stated what new technology is being implemented to watch these AFK-ers.
They have revealed that getting caught by their system would mean being kicked off to the main menu, and the repetitive offense would mean severe punishments.
But, when there’s a spark, there’s bound to be fire, right? Likewise, while some players are glad that this new system is being implemented, some are opposed to the idea.
They state that every MMO has these AFK-ers, and instead of wasting time and trying to play the blame game, the devs should increase the number of in-game servers.
Some players are even worried that a 10-minute break from the computer screen light would mean AFK-ing and being kicked off from the game’s server.
Only time can tell whether this decision was a wise one or not; till then, we just have to wait in the queue and pray that we get to play the game without having to wait for hours!
