Players Start Petition to Get New World Devs to Livestream Playthrough

Released in September, the New World launch was filled with game-breaking bugs, resource scams, and many other issues that made players want to run away from Aeternum. However, those who stuck with the game now have another problem: the elite endgame zone known as Myrkgard and the scaling of the enemies there.

Developers of MMOs want to ensure that the game is a challenge for players, even when playing in a large party. More people means more damage dealt to enemies, and weak foes make for a boring game.

To prevent players from blitzing through the endgame content in New World, the developers have added a significant buff to enemy health and overall stats if there are more than 5 players in the area. This has frustrated players to no end.

The result of that frustration, fuelled by the overall state of the game, was players banding together to form a petition. The purpose of this petition is to get the developers of New World to play through the endgame content themselves on a live stream, and there are some specific, carefully-worded conditions added.

The post on the New World forum asks the developers of Amazon Game Studios to host a live stream with them attempting to get through Myrkgard. They must start at one end of the zone and finish at the other, in a group of 5 or 10, and with a fixed gear score of 580. The stream would need to use a Live build, not a Developer one, and the devs would have to eliminate all the mobs along the way, including commanders, bears, and brutes.

The fanbase greatly approved this petition, who have stated they would happily support such an endeavor. They even suggested making the event a charity and that it would give the devs an excellent opportunity to come closer with their fanbase.

This isn’t in any way a new incident. MMO developers have live-streamed themselves playing their own content numerous times before. The Elder Scrolls Online team is the most famous example as they regularly host streams of new dungeons and raids.

Naoki Yoshida, the game director for Final Fantasy XIV, is himself in the top percentile of Black Mage players and regularly clears high-end content in his own game.

Given the state of the game and how new problems are cropping up practically every day, this would be a great way for Amazon to connect with the player base and understand their concerns. Only through that will they be able to improve the game in practical ways that make it a fun experience, not just a tolerable one.
