No Internet, No Godfall – Find Out More

Godfall, an upcoming role-playing action game cannot be played without an internet connection. Though the game offers both single-player and co-op gameplay, the need for an internet connection will remain constant.

There is a lot of hype surrounding Godfall. By the looks of it, the game seems to be a revamped version of Diablo. Now, Blizzard developed Diablo is considered to be a pioneer of the action RPG genre and therefore, enthusiasts have a lot of expectations from Godfall.

With fans waiting desperately for Godfall, I’m sorry to tell you there is some bad news for you. Even if you are playing the solo mode, you’ll require the internet.

This news first broke out via Sony. As the Japanese tech giants updated Godfall’s page on PlayStation.com, they mentioned the prerequisite of having an incessant internet connection.

This obviously baffled a lot of players and as a result, many took to Twitter to seek clarity from the developers regarding the stinging need of a constant net connection.

To one such an enthusiast, the official page of Godfall replied that internet connection is needed but also added that Godfall is not a live-service game.

For those unaware of the term “live-service”, it’s honestly a way of keeping gamers occupied with the game so as to make them pay for microtransactions.

Daily events and rewards are housed by live service games to make players come back for more. If this tactic is implemented properly, games live on for decades.

But in Godfall’s case fans are in an emotional meltdown with many claiming that they won’t even buy the game.

“So the game will be unplayable when the servers are shut down in X number of years. Not a great selling point.”

“If it requires an internet connection to play IT IS a service game. If it can’t be played offline IT IS a service game. We can discuss if this is acceptable for single-player campaigns or not, but please don’t take people as ignorant.”

It’s clear to see that fans are not happy with this move but in the defence of Counterplay Games, they had the best intentions at their heart.

With players relying on an online connection to play this game, it would be easy for developers to deal with cheats and take appropriate actions.
