NVIDIA Halts RTX 3080 12GB GPU Production– Available Till Stocks Last!

NVIDIA’s RTX 3080 was launched in September 2020. The high-end graphics card was designed using NVIDIA’s Ampere architecture. It features enhanced RT cores, Tensor cores, streaming multiprocessors, and G6X memory for the ultimate gaming experience.

Reportedly, NVIDIA has halted the production of RTX 3080 GPU with 12GB.

NVIDIA has been determined in clearing the stock for RTX 30 cards while the launch of the RTX 40 series approaches. The prices continue to drop for the RTX 3080; even the 3080 Ti costs under RRP. While the price gap decreases, the sales for the RTX 3080 12GB look bleak.

The RTX 40 series is developed using Ada Lovelace architecture. The GPUs are rumored to be twice as fast as the RTX 30 ‘Ampere’ series. The flagship RTX 4090 model will utilize the Ad102 GPU.

The RTX 3080 12 GB model has 8960 cores, while the 10 GB model has 8704 cores. The memory bus is a significant difference between the two, with 384-bit for the 12GB and 320-bit for the 10GB. Hence, the effective bandwidth for both is 912 GB/s and 760 GB/s, respectively.

With the same price, it is wiser to buy the 12GB variant for more shaders and extra bandwidth.

The stocks will only last for so long. The RTX 3080 is an excellent card with high-performance and advanced features like DLSS and ray-tracing. Vendors are looking to sell off the 3080 GPUs as soon as possible with the RTX 40 models coming soon, and there’s no doubt those will have everyone’s attention.
