Overwatch 2 Team Occupied w/ Season 2; PvE Updates Still Pending

Season 2 of Overwatch 2 releases on December 6. Ahead of the anticipated launch, Blizzard revealed a roadmap of future reveals for the game such as the next tank hero Ramattra, a new map, and more.

Executive Producer for Overwatch 2, Jared Neuss, revealed that it might be a while before we get an update on the upcoming PvE mode.

Blizzard had previously stated that the PvE mode for Overwatch 2 would be launched in 2023. The developers team have their hands full with the next season as of now. Clearly, the release of Season 2 tops the PvE mode in priority. However, Blizzard will be talking about the gameplay mode in future, along with some other “highly anticipated features.”

Of course, this news comes as a disappointment to some fans. Fortunately, Neuss did not specify whether the PvE mode will be delayed further, although the specific release date is not yet announced.

Fans are definitely hoping to see some improvements to the PvP mode with the new season update. Blizzard has hinted at changes to the hero balance with buffing weaker tanks and nerfing Sojourn.

More such fixes will also be done which will significantly improve the quality of the game including the battle pass and progression systems. Hopefully, Season 2 turns out to be better than the current season which was notoriously enamored with bugs and glitches.

About Overwatch 2

Overwatch 2 is an upcoming first-person shooter developed and published by Blizzard Entertainment. The sequel to the 2016 hero shooter Overwatch, the game is intended to have a shared environment for player-versus-player (PvP) modes with the first game while introducing persistent cooperative modes. A major change in PvP was to reduce team sizes from six to five, which required several characters to be reworked.

Overwatch 2 is set to launch as free-to-play on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Windows, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S in early access on October 4, 2022. It will feature full cross-platform play.
