Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous Drops Massive New Beta for Crowdfunders

When it comes to Role Playing Games (RPGs), all gamers have their preferences. Some favour the contemporary action-packed and fast-paced ones while some like to keep it old-school and go for turn-based systems. For those who like to dig into the latter, there are plenty of awesome games to dive into like the Baldur’s Gate series, Icewind Dale and Pillars of Eternity. The most recent addition to this line-up was 2018’s Pathfinder: Kingmaker.

After the game fared well across the board in game reviews, Pathfinder: Wrath Of The Righteous was announced in 2019 as an indirect sequel to the game. And after a very successful Kickstarter campaign that managed to raise over $2 Million for game development, Owlcat Games has now launched the beta of the game for its financial backers.

The sequel brings players to a new region called Worldwound, which is a wasteland taken over by demons; demons that have gained entry due to a planar tear to the Abyss. The beta contains the prologue as well as the first 4 chapters of the game, which according to Owlcast, amounts to over a whopping 50 hours of gameplay. Do keep in mind that this is a Beta. So, there are bound to be a few bugs floating around here and there.

The first 3 chapters of the beta will include all quests, all companion storylines, “some” romantic options, and two combat modes: turn-based and real-time with pause. The fourth chapter is not fully complete, as side quests are missing and some “draft assets” are still in place.

The beta will also showcase the Mythic progression system, a mechanic that allows you to choose one of the six Mythic Paths. The Mythic Path you choose will affect the main story in later chapters, creating different experiences and outcomes. A total of nine Mythic Paths will be available on full release but for now, players can choose from the Angel, Azat, Lich, Demon, Aeon and Trickster paths.

To kick things off, Owlcast will be running a ‘Choose Your Own Story’ quest via Twitch at 8 AM Eastern Time. Viewers will be able to vote on choices that will determine the next step in the story.
