PC System Requirements Reveal for Resident Evil 8 Includes Ray Tracing

Resident Evil fans have been dying to play the new Resident Evil Village set to be released this May. But Capcom being seriously hush hush about the whole project had not even revealed the proper system requirements that would work for us PC gamers if we wanted to play the game.

The trailer and demo made quite the impact on us horror game lovers, taking the Resident Evil franchise and its monsters to a whole new shiver-inducing level.

While we sat at home thinking if we could ever witness Lady Dimitrescu’s evildoings while playing this immaculate video game in person, Capcom’s Japanese website just dropped the long awaited PC system requirements.

System Requirements of Resident Evil Village have been released for its May 7th launch for PS4, PS5, XBOX Series X and S, XBOX One, and Windows via Steam.

But here’s where things get a little complicated. According to Capcom, the minimum requirements for Resident Evil Village explains that while the game will support NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 Ti (4GB VRAM) or AMD Radeon RX 560 (4GB VRAM) GPUs, if you want 1080p/60fps, the “Performance Focus” settings need to be turned on.

Further than that, if you’re aiming for ray tracing, you need higher GPUs like RTX 2060 or Radeon RX 6700 XT.

What’s ray tracing you ask? Well, it’s a special 3D visual effects rendering, that makes the in-game lights feel like actual real life lights. It means, if you’re holding a candle in-game, the candle’s light will go as far as it does usually in real life.

Similarly, for recommended specs the 1080p/60fps is possible with “Focus on Screen Quality” settings on.

The recommended GPUs for ray tracing include:

  • NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2070 (4K / 45fps)
  • NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 (4K / 60fps)
  • AMD Radeon RX 6700 XT (4K / 45fps)
  • AMD Radeon RX 6800 (4K / 45fps)
  • AMD Radeon RX 6900 XT (4K / 60fps)

If the game’s system requirements do match your own rig, you might want to go and pre-order the game now. Pre-ordering now will also get you the Resident Evil Re:Verse absolutely free!!
