Leaker ‘Confident’ Something New is Happening to the Bully Franchise

Bully is a part of many a gamer’s childhoods. The title has a dedicated fan following and, to this day, remains popular. Released in 2006, it is by no way the most highly regarded game from Rockstar, but it created a niche for itself.

Rumors have been floating around for years stating that Bully may make a return in the form of a remake or an entirely new game, but nothing of result has come out from those whisperings. Now, a credible leaker is confident this may change.

Tom Henderson, a frequent, reliable leaker for gaming news, recently tweeted that he is “confident” about “something happening with the Bully franchise.” He elaborated by stating he was told the new Bully project is Bully 2, but there is some conflicting information to keep in mind. Other leakers have hinted that it may just be a definitive edition or remake of the original.

Henderson himself has admitted that the details are sketchy, and there are many rumors on why the information on this topic is not yet clear. One theory is that journalists have signed NDAs regarding a demo, which would explain the absence of information. Others are questioning if there is a project in the works at all.

The founder of Rockstar Mag, Chris Klippel, said that no Bully game was in development with Rockstar RAGE, their proprietary game engine. According to him, this would indicate no direct sequel is in the works but does not rule out other kinds of projects such as a definitive edition or a remaster.

Klippel also spoke of the possibility of an Unreal Engine 4 Definitive Edition from Rockstar Dundee but admitted that there was “a lot of confusion now” and said he was worried the people would be disappointed.

Henderson chimed in on the thread, raising the point of the long periods Rockstar games get between the initial press demos and their release. He stated that it made no sense for Rockstar to announce a new Bully project in light of the abysmal reception for the Grand Theft Auto Trilogy Definitive Edition.

If the new project is a similar remaster, the internet will tear it apart with memes and criticism.

If there is an entirely new Bully game in development, it’s safe to say fans will be waiting a while before getting their first glimpse. Rockstar is not opposed to holding back projects to announce them at the most advantageous time.
