A VGChartz report revealed that both PS5 and Xbox Series X/S sales numbers are very close to each other.
Since November 2022, the PS5 has sold 10.32 million units, while the Xbox Series X/S has sold 9.32 million units in the US. Surprisingly, the last year has been even better for Microsoft, since the Xbox Series X/S has outsold the PS5 by 17,029 units.
One reason for their close sales is that both the PS5 and Xbox Series X/S are popular gaming consoles. With exclusive games specifically being made for both the platforms, the competition is as close as ever.
Another factor is that the supply issues with Sony’s PS5 caused a lot of potential buyers to instead opt for the Xbox Series X/S. This is unusual since Sony’s PlayStation consoles have almost always outsold Xbox consoles.
The neck-to-neck sales rivalry is a boon for gamers since this makes sure that both the companies are focused on providing the better product. It is likely that there will be a slight boost in PlayStation 5 sales now that Sony has worked out a viable supply chain, and due to some game-changing upgrades such as Discord integration. Microsoft better figure out a way to catch up soon, or else things can take a bad turn.
