If you were hyped to go to LA just to see your beloved developers talk about your favourite games at E3 2021 in the flesh, then I have some bad news for you. It has emerged that E3 will not be conducting live events this year too.
Apparently, the Board of Los Angeles Convention and Tourism Development published a document where it was listed that E3 2021’s physical show will be cancelled. To minimize the risk of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, E3 was axed.
Prevention is better than cure, they say after all.
Instead of the physical event, enthusiasts can expect a virtual event to be held. Of course, digital shows can never overcome the sheer excitement of attending a live event. But then again, this is the new normal, and we will have to accept it for the time being.
However, the Entertainment Software Association has not revealed anything about how E3 will be held. But the rumours of ESA talking with LATCB about broadcasting options tilts toward a digital approach.
Talking about E3, an ESA spokesperson said,
“We can confirm that we are transforming the E3 experience for 2021 and will soon share exact details on how we’re bringing the global video game community together,”ESA Spokesperson
“We are having great conversations with publishers, developers and companies across the board, and we look forward to sharing details about their involvement soon.”ESA Spokesperson
The E3 also pitched their plans to hold a virtual show from June 15th to 17th. The gaming show wanted to deliver exciting keynote sessions and award shows. However, the word on the street is that several publishers and developers aren’t really interested in what E3 has to offer.
