Resident Evil Village Booting Problems May Be Solved Very Soon

Ever since its release, Resident Evil Village has been facing some problems on the PC front. Capcom has consistently released updates to fix each issue, and the game has come a long way from the state it was in at launch.

The first patch reduced stuttering with the game’s anti-piracy measures and offered AMD’s FidelityFX Super Resolution tech. The new patch, releasing tomorrow, will further improve the game and fix one big issue.

According to the game’s official Twitter account, the August 24th patch will bring the following tweaks,

  • Fixed an issue where certain CPUs were unable to launch the game
  • Minor fine-tuning of certain graphical processes

So, if you have been one of the unlucky few who has not been able to launch the game due to your combo of CPU and GPU, this patch is precisely what you need.

A very similar issue has been popping up on the Resident Evil subreddit, but it is unclear if this is the exact issue the patch will address. Multiple CPUs have been reported in that Reddit thread, and some of the problems those users were facing have been fixed since then.

We’re hoping that this patch can fix this seemingly game-ending bug. If it does, it will give players enough time to get through the game before the release of the Resident Evil Village DLC that Capcom teased during E3.

There is no official word on when that DLC will release, as we have been told that “development has just started.” We don’t even know what the DLC will add to the game, whether it’s story-based missions or some form of new modes. Maybe we’ll get to play as another character for a different perspective of the entire game.

But this is all quite a ways away, as is Re:Verse, the six-person multiplayer deathmatch game that was supposed to come with Village. This was then confirmed as a standalone title and has recently been delayed until 2022.
