Nvidia Disappoints As RTX 4090 Rumors Surface– Specs & More Disclosed

The fight to be the best GPU in the market is heated. AMD is gearing up its RDNA3 for a 2022 release, and Intel’s soon-to-release Arc Range is also something to look out for. So, how can Nvidia fall behind?

Their next release has again made headlines, and this time, anticipating buyers are even more excited for the actual release. The hype has made some underwhelming claims as well as some clarifications. No one can tell how much of it is concrete, but given Nvidia’s remarkable history, you might as well be waiting for a surprise.

Twitter user @kopite7kimi tweeted rumored specs for the upcoming Nvidia RTX 4090 GPU. This July, Nvidia is expected to launch the 4000 series GPU, so any future leaks regarding features and build might not be too off the mark.

According to the tweet, the next-gen flagship GPU, based on Ada Lovelace architecture, has 24 GB GDDR6X VRAM, a 21 Gbps memory speed, and about 16,128 FP32 CUDA cores.

It will be a perfect successor to the GeForce RTX 3090 Ti, which also has 24 Gb VRAM and a memory speed of 21 Gbps. The only difference is that the 3090 Ti has 10752 cores, 5376 less than the RTX 4090. Possibly, Nvidia could upscale to more cores for a Ti variant.

The latest specs come as a reality check as compared to previous leaks which suggested ~100 TFLOPS, 2.7 GHz clock speed, 18,432 cores, and a different TDP.

The most exciting takeaway from the tweet is the supposed power usage. The 4090 could similarly have a TDP of 450W to that of the RTX 3090 Ti. An earlier leak suggested this value be somewhere around 600W, so as compared to that, you can expect things to be a lot cooler.

There is not much information regarding real-time ray tracing performance, 4K video scaling, rasterization efficiency, and other such abilities. But you can expect the GPU to be twice as fast as the RTX 3090.

Nvidia has no official statement regarding the specific details, so we can only speculate about what’s to come and what’s not. However, one thing is sure that the 4090, while a bit underwhelming, does hold a lot of promise to deliver. With Intel and AMD also gearing up for their respective releases, it is exciting to see what is in store, and boy, are we on the edge of our seats!
