AMD Ryzen 9 7945HX locks horns with Intel Core i9 13980 HX on Geekbench

AMD’s flagship Ryzen 9 7945HX “Dragon Range” CPU has taken the Geekbench 5 test and has some ground-breaking figures for the mobile processor range.

Conducted on the Asus ROG Zephyrs Duo 16 laptop with 32GB of 4800 MT/s RAM, it puts up a decent fight against Intel’s Raptor Lake offerings.

The Ryzen 9 7945HX is faster than the desktop 7900X, with about 5.4GHz at 55 watts. On average, the CPU scores 2127 on Single-core and 19403 on multi-core on the ROG Zephyrus DUO 16 laptop.

This score puts this AMD processor on top of the single-core mobile processor benchmark ranking and is just a bit off the multi-core compared to the 13th-GenCore i9 HX Series.

This result is even more impressive because Ryzen 9 7945HX has fewer core counts than the intel Core i9 13980HX – 16 vs. 24. However, they have the same thread count of 32 threads each.

Compared to the previous generation Ryzen 9 6900X series, it shows a 33% increase in performance. It has to be kept in mind that the 6900X has a TDP of 45W only. However, this is a testament to AMD’s new Zen4 CPU cores powering the “Dragon Range” processors.

Intel’s Raptor Lake i9 13980HX has single-core scores of 2103 and 19885 for multicore. Thus, the processors trade blows in either segment, and no one ends up as the real overall winner.

While Geekbench isn’t the standard measurement for cross-platform performance, it’s a pretty accurate measurement of what the hardware would be like in real life.

It’s very clear that AMD is now breathing down on Intel’s neck in the flagship CPU sector, with high-end CPUs ranking neck-to-neck. With better pricing, it might be more lucrative to go for Team Red than Team Blue.
