Is Pre-Ordering Battlefield 2042 a Good Idea?

Hands down, Battlefield is one of the most popular FPS franchises out there. From gunning down enemies to operating heavy machinery, each game is packed with action to its very core. Adding to the list of Battlefield games, the new Battlefield 2042 is releasing this 22nd of October. While most fans already know about its release, there are still some people deciding to pre-order the game or not.

Pre-ordering any game means spending tons of money purchasing it before release and even before expert gamers can review it. So, if you’re having doubts about committing to such a big purchase, let me share some of my opinions on it before you decide on what to do.

DICE Keeping the Franchise Alive

DICE is developing Battlefield 2042 along with gaming company Electronic Arts. Most of you know DICE was the original brain behind all the previous Battlefield games in the franchise. So, those doubtful about the same old Battlefield feeling with this new Battlefield 2042 can rest assured that knowing the game will be worth it.

Most Battlefield veterans will probably find similarities in the game mechanics and art, giving them a nice trip down the memory lane.

EA Going All in With the Fanbase

EA, parent company of DICE already has an extensive history of collaborating and making games together. Now this iconic duo is back for Battlefield 2042, making the multiplayer modes even more enjoyable. This means the 128 players heavy lobbies promised in Battlefield 2042 will be backed up by EA’s powerful servers.

Additionally, Battlefield 2042 has promised to have an extensive cross-platform collaboration making PC and Console gamers play in the same lobby. This may not have been possible without EA’s involvement.

EA has already dealt with a fair share of multiplayer games like Apex Legends and NFS and has also taken part in making Battlefield 3 and 4. So, calm down, folks! The devs know what they are doing.

Should You Pre-Order Battlefield 2042?

Battlefield 2042 Editions

If you’re a fan of the Battlefield franchise and love FPS games in general, then I would suggest you go ahead and pre-order Battlefield 2042 releasing this October.

Not only does Battlefield 2042 have a promisingly strong backup from EA, but the multiplayer servers also have a better chance at handling lobbies filled with a large number of players. Just remember that if you want to pick an edition, go for the Gold (US $89.99) one since that’s the most value for money, in my opinion.

What does Battlefield 2042 Bring to the Table?

Battlefield 2042 | Battlefield Portal Official Trailer

Players already know Battlefield 2042 is set on the premise of a post-apocalyptic world in the future. This means major upgrades to the weapons, vehicles, and character modificationsBut, most importantly, major upgrades to the old maps in the franchise and inclusion of new ones.

Other than new maps and weapons, Battlefield 2042 will feature three new Multiplayer Modes: All Out Warzone, Hazard Mode, and Portal Mode. The Portal Mode will bring out the true aspect of the futuristic Battlefield with a mixture of maps, weapons, and vehicles from the previous games of the franchise.

The devs have also informed that natural calamities might be the most deadly thing on each map instead of the players and guns. So, if you’re willing to try out these game modes, pre-ordering is the way to go!

However, I can’t help but address the amount of hype Battlefield 2042 received immediately after its development announcement. I’m sure most of you know that receiving so much attention in such a short amount of time might not always do the right thing.

Not the First Time Hyped Up Titles Failed

It’s a no-brainer that when there’s a lot of buzz about a certain game, there’s also immense pressure on the development team to get things done quicker. For example, a similar action game like Tom Clancy’s – The Division 2 had a massive surge of fans eagerly waiting for its release. Once it did, fans were left disappointed with the lack of story and repetitive gameplay.

Mass Effect Andromeda, an EA-backed game, lacked some severe story structure and did not deliver the perfect animations promised during its announcement.

Cyberpunk 2077

And let’s not forget about the number of bugs and errors reported in Cyberpunk 2077 due to its early overhyped release.

So, keeping these things in mind, if you do pre-order Battlefield 2042, try not to go completely ballistic on the devs team if you encounter any minor bugs in the game. However, if you do want to be the bearer of bad news for the developers, you can sign up for the Alpha and pre-order the game for the Open Beta testing to report any issues players may encounter while playing.

All in all here’s hoping things go well and we get a smooth-flowing Multiplayer FPS; we fans have been waiting to get our hands-on.

About Battlefield 2042

Battlefield 2042 is the seventeenth installment in the Battlefield series developed by DICE and published by Electronic Arts. The game is a first-person online multiplayer shooting title. This installment of Battlefield will not feature a single-player campaign mode.

The year is 2042 and the world is in ruins. Natural disasters run rampant, ocean levels have risen, the world economy has collapsed, and the US and Russia are at war. You step into the shoes of a non-patriated soldier – a soldier without a side. The games’ story will be revealed through episodic additions, allowing players to create a future for themselves and other non-pats in a world on the brink of destruction.
