Vengeful Resolution? To Kill or Not to Kill Sean McKay in Far Cry 6

Far Cry games have always offered players a lot of freedom to tackle the missions, challenges, and side quests. Even the main story narrative has had its fair share of choice, allowing players to choose, to some degree, how they want the narrative to play out.

A particular mission in Far Cry 6 had me questioning my decision lately, and I get the feeling a lot of others out there may be wondering what would be the better choice. So, let’s see whether you should end Sean McKay or let him fly off into the sunset.

Should you kill or spare Sean McKay?

So, let’s get to the meat of the matter. There’s no doubt that ending McKay helps to scratch that vengeful itch everyone will have by the time they confront him. But it goes beyond just closure.

If you kill Sean McKay, Dani will be rewarded with the rare “Canadians, What?” wrist gear. Killing McKay is the only way to obtain it. This gear guarantees that enemies drop pesos when defeated as long as you have killed them using a poison weapon. This is an ideal piece of gear for those who carry weapons with the poison rounds ammo mod.

If you choose to spare McKay, you will be rewarded with 5,000 pesos.

I feel killing him is the more rewarding and satisfying action to take. 5,000 pesos is a small sum that can be accrued by raiding FND bases, completing treasure hunts, or even using the Canadians, What? wrist gear to farm the cash.

For those wondering who Sean McKay is and why Far Cry 6 players may want to put a bullet in his head, read on to know more about him and when you confront him.

Who is Sean McKay?

While Anton Castillo, played by the supremely talented Giancarlo Esposito, is the main antagonist in Far Cry 6, there are others who we have to deal with before we can take down the Big Bad. One of these more minor antagonists is Canadian businessman and owner of McKay Global, Sean Mckay.

Sean McKay handles Anton’s Viviro imports and exports from El Este. Basically, the man is Castillo’s wallet, and he funnels funds for the dictator’s supplies, soldiers, and further development on Viviro. Taking him out is a massive blow to Anton’s foundations in Yara.

How to get to Sean McKay?

Getting to Sean McKay will require you to finish all the Operations in El Este. Once the Operation is completed, Dani will have McKay cornered when they get a call from Juan Cortez. It turns out, Cortez and McKay have brokered a deal, with the businessman being allowed to fly back to America.

Well, that’s the plan, but Dani doesn’t always go according to plan. You can end McKay at any point, and not only is it satisfying, but you will also be able to receive a rare piece of gear that will help you farm cash.

Whatever decision you choose to go with has little bearing on the larger Far Cry 6 narrative. This is more of a personal preference, and you can choose how you think your unique Dani would react in that situation.
