Report Claims Sony’s Working on a “Pro” Controller for the PS5

PlayStation has always had the edge over Xbox when it comes to controllers. From the design to ease of use, Sony has always strived for innovation and managed to improve upon various elements that go into the making of a controller with each console generation.

Now according to new reports, PlayStation is all set to introduce a new range of hardware for PS5 later this month, including a new “genuine professional controller.”

Writing for Try Hard Guides, reliable industry insider Tom Henderson said that Sony is working on a “Pro” controller for the PS5 that comes with handy features like removable analog sticks, trigger stops, and rear buttons. He further added that the controller is codenamed “Hunt” and will be unveiled in the coming weeks.

It looks like this premium controller is being designed for those enthusiasts who want to be a cut above the rest since it lets you completely remove the analog sticks and their components that are referred to as “removable stick units” by Sony.

This allows gamers to replace the analog sticks in case they develop drift instead of purchasing a new controller.

On top of this, it also looks like the upcoming controller took inspiration from adapting features that the Xbox Elite and SCUF controllers boast in order to let PS5 players alter it as per their preferences.

While Henderson claims that the PS5 Pro controller isn’t the only hardware that Sony intends to reveal, he’s unsure when it would release.

He speculates that it could be shown at the end of this month based on what the tittle-tattle has to say but isn’t wholly convinced. The reliable leaker also reports that the controller could be shown at the same event where Sony finally puts the spotlight on God of War Ragnarok.

As for other hardware Sony could release, Henderson says that a new PS5 console won’t join the lineup. With the Japanese tech giants yet to give a release date to PSVR 2 despite talking about it at the latest State of Play, chances are it would be the hardware that Sony focuses on.
