Sony Subtly Removes Release Dates from the CES’21 YouTube Video

Earlier this week, Sony revealed the target release dates of a handful of PS5 games in a trailer during its CES 2021 presentation. However, it seems that it was an error since the information is now pulled back.

Sony was the highlight of this year’s Consumer Electronics Show. It showed off its “Future of Entertainment, which showcased new audio, visual, and gaming technologies. The PS5 was one of the focal points in Sony’s presentation, and the company released a new trailer for it. It highlighted some games which were already released and some which were coming to the PS5.

The trailer, uploaded to Sony’s Youtube channel, mentioned the release dates for many new titles. This subtle reveal has got many fans excited. But it seems that it may have been a mistake.

Sony Digital Press Event at CES 2021: PlayStation 5 – Play Has No Limits

The trailer initially mentioned the target release dates of several PS5 games such as Kena: Bridge of Spirits, Solar Ash, Stray, Ghostwire: Tokyo, and others. However, the information was not supposed to be released. So, Sony has removed it and re-uploaded the trailer.

As pointed out by Gematsu, the original trailer uploaded by Sony contained a screen with some fine print listing the target release dates of many games. According to the original trailer, Kena would release in March 2021, Solar Ash in June 2021, and both Stray and Ghostwire: Tokyo in October 2021, along with other games.

However, the way Sony gave out the information about upcoming release dates hinted that the entire thing might have been a mistake, which later turned out to be just that. Sony has re-uploaded the trailer and removed all the information.

Generally, we see that news about release dates, particularly massive releases, gets a lot of fanfare and promotions. The original trailer revealed all that information subtly. As soon as Sony became aware of their mistake, they re-uploaded the trailer and removed all the information without making any form of announcement or acknowledgment.

We will know whether the dates mentioned in the original trailer turn out to be true or not in the future. Because if they do, then 2021 would surely be an exciting year for the gamers!
