It’s time to put hours of predicting and speculating to rest as we finally have an official confirmation on PlayStation’s first State of Play of this year. The ever-churning rumor mill’s speculation suggested that Sony would hold their much-anticipated event in February, and guess what, they were right.
Through the PlayStation Blog, Sony announced that 2022’s first State of Play would broadcast on February 2 at 2 PM PT/5 PM ET/11 PM CET via PlayStation’s Twitch and YouTube channels.
Unlike most State of Plays that feature a wide array of titles, this State of Play will focus entirely on showcasing thirty minutes of “new PS5 footage and gameplay details for Gran Turismo 7.”
Given that this is all Sony had to reveal about the presentation, enthusiasts would indeed be waiting with bated breath to catch sight of all the breathtaking features that GT7 intends to show on Wednesday.
Whatever it is, though, it’ll surely be grand. With the game featuring “over 420 car models with the highest quality ever” and housing “over 90 tracks with realistic weather and realistic scenery,” expectations are sky-high.
Now coming to the legal side of things, the Japanese company also had a critical note to share regarding co-streaming and video-on-demand.
Since this broadcast might include copyrighted content beyond PlayStation’s control, Sony warned that licensing agreement could get in the way of co-streams and VOD archives of the event.
Therefore, co-steamers and creators who are “planning to save this broadcast as a VOD to create recap videos, or to repost clips or segments from the show” are advised to omit any copyrighted music.
Gran Turismo 7 is expected to release on March 4 for PS5 and PS4.
