Soulja Boy Is Getting Ready to Launch a New Console

Infamous rapper Soulja Boy has announced that he is making another gaming console. After his initial attempt to get into the gaming industry in 2018 was met by a cease-and-desist letter from major manufacturers, Soulja Boy had been quiet on the status of his gaming projects. In a recent tweet through the Soulja Game Console Twitter account which was then retweeted by his original handle, he said,

Soulja has shared a glimpse of the new console in a recent Instagram post, which shows a PS2 controller placed on top of an unidentified white console.

In 2018, Soulja Boy, born DeAndre Cortez, first tried to venture into the gaming industry with his “Soulja Game Console” but was threatened with legal action by Nintendo, forcing him to put the project on hold. His project was also criticized for being an “overpriced” copy of Nintendo and Sega handheld games. On December 15th 2018, he announced two other consoles: the “Retro SouljaBoy Mini” which was similar to a Nintendo Game Boy, and the “SouljaGame Fuze” which resembled an Xbox One and a PS4.

Later, on December 30th 2018, Soulja Boy had pulled the consoles off of his online shop following the threat of a lawsuit from Nintendo. The SouljaGame website was later seized by Nintendo and redirected to the company’s official site. On January 12th 2019, Soulja Boy released a new handheld console on his SouljaWatch website called the SouljaGame Handheld, which resembles a PlayStation Vita.

Will we really see a new console from the rapper or will his new foray into the gaming industry be stalled yet again? Only time will tell, but we’re sure it’s going to bring some great content with it.
