Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 Plot Leak Ties it with the First Game’s DLC

Insomniac Games hasn’t been very vocal about Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 ever since it was first showcased at the PlayStation Showcase 2021. They’ve been pretty much radio silent about the game, with little to no information being revealed by them except some toys, comics, and a release window confirmation.

Fans are starving for some new content or gameplay footage from the upcoming game, as Spider-Man 2 is one of this year’s most anticipated games. So naturally, fans will start to believe any leaks regarding the game’s story, whether real or fake, to get excited.

But if a recent plot leak is to be believed, then the sequel’s story will pick up where the first game’s DLC ended. Marvel’s Spider-Man has a DLC called “The City That Never Sleeps”, which was released in three parts. The DLC involved a gang war, introduced new characters like Black Cat and Hammerhead, and built upon what was in the main story.

All the plot points were wrapped up pretty nicely in the DLCs, except for one. At the end of the DLC, one of Spider-Man’s biggest supporting characters in the game, Yuri Watanabe, went rogue, leaving her story incomplete.

According to the Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 plot leaks, the first third of the game will focus on Peter’s friendship with Yuri, who has now become the vigilante Wraith, as he tries to stop her from going down a vengeful path and restore the partnership that they had in the first game.

Take this leak with a grain of salt but considering how Peter and Yuri’s partnership ended in the last game, her becoming the vigilante Wraith in the upcoming game was bound to happen. If you’re familiar with Spider-Man comics, then you’ll know that this happens in the comics too.

So, if you’ve played the first game and completed it but haven’t played the DLC, then we suggest you do so because it seems like Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 will pick up sometime after the DLC ends, not after the main game’s ending. If you’ve played the DLC, then ready yourself for the sequel.

Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is currently in development exclusively for PlayStation 5 and is slated to release later this year.

About Marvel’s Spider-Man 2

Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is a 2023 action-adventure game developed by Insomniac Games and published by Sony Interactive Entertainment. It is based on the Marvel Comics character Spider-Man, and features a narrative inspired by its long-running comic book mythology derived from various adaptations in other media.

It is the third entry in the Marvel’s Spider-Man series, acting as a sequel to Marvel’s Spider-Man (2018) and a follow-up to Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales (2020). In this installment, Peter Parker and Miles Morales struggle to navigate the next steps in their personal lives while combating several new threats, including a private militia led by Kraven the Hunter, who transforms New York City into a hunting ground for super-powered individuals and the extraterrestrial Venom symbiote, which bonds itself to Parker and negatively influences him, threatening to destroy his relationships.
