Season 5 for Call of Duty Begins August 12 with New Operator

Treyarch has announced the start date of Call of Duty: BlackOps Cold War Season 5 with a new action-packed trailer.

Fans will be able to partake in the global hit’s new content drop on August 12 in both BlackOps Cold War and Warzone. The trailer also introduced a mysterious new operator who also makes for the season’s most significant addition.

The Operator for Season 5 is a sinister-looking, eyepatch-wearing gunner. Her weapons of choice seem to be two Uzis and some mind control tech, both utilized in the trailer.

A leak that surfaced on Reddit a few days ago suggested that this Operator’s name is Kitsune and that she was first hinted at in Season 4’s outro. The leak also revealed that two more operators, apparently codenamed Kingsley and Surge, will be arriving in Season 5.

It’s natural to doubt the veracity of leaks, but the image shared in the leak was the same as the one Treyarch posted this morning. So, it’s entirely plausible that all the information shared in the leak is credible.

The news of new content was received well by many fans as they felt that it had been too long since Treyarch had brought anything new to BlackOps Cold War.

However, a vast majority also voiced their dissatisfaction with the number of cheaters still running rampant on the game’s servers.

This is an issue that Call of Duty has been dealing with for a while now, but it’s been an uphill task as fans can still get their hands on advanced cheating tech.

It will be essential for Treyarch to add plenty of new content to Season 5 to convince players to return. The trailer teased a couple of new weapons, including a new pistol, a new rifle, and what looked like a TEC-9.

What’s more, Warzone’s Season 4 Reloaded patch notes also revealed that a long-awaited weapon would make its debut in Verdansk, so that’s something to look forward to.

A leak also suggested that 12 new maps designed for BlackOps Cold War are yet to arrive in the game, so we might get those in Season 5 as well.

Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War is available on PC, PS4|5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S.
