It seems that Tencent is out to grab more video game developers under its name. This time around, they have purchased 10 Chambers, the Swedish developer behind GTFO.
What’s interesting to note here, however, is that Tencent did not directly purchase the studio itself, which was founded by Ulf Andersson, the founder of Overkill Software, five years ago.
The exact price which Tencent paid to the developer is yet to be revealed, but according to Andersson, it is quite the chunky amount and a “major stake.”
Andersson also stated that 10 Chambers was actually looking for someone to give them a little more muscle-power to further develop GTFO, which has been in early access for a long time now, and to ultimately help them accomplish their goals and ambitions.
GTFO truly deserves to get out of early access hell as quickly as possible, seeing how this 4-player action/horror cooperative first-person shooter is one supremely amazing experience.
For those unaware, in this title, you play as part of a team of prisoners who are forced into dangerous tasks relating to the excavation of valuable artefacts while trying to escape the clutches of terrifyingly evil creatures.
The game is pretty hardcore and focuses on each prisoner’s teamwork and survival skills to the maximum possible extent. Now that Tencent has acquired 10 Chambers, things are looking brighter than ever for this video game.

With that said, it will be interesting to see the direction 10 Chambers takes from here on out, and it will be even more interesting to see what other video game developers Tencent approaches to expand its influence in the gaming industry even more!
