Elden Ring Gets Official Manga Adaptation by Japan’s Kadokawa Corp.

Elden Ring was released about seven months ago, back in February. The RPG has been critically acclaimed by several platforms and hugely loved by fans. The impressive sales figures are evidence of its huge popularity. While FromSoftware is rumored to have DLC plans for the future, fans will be surprised to know a manga related to the game is in development.

Elden Ring is getting an official manga adaptation, with the first two releases titled The Road to the Erdtree already available.

Despite the game’s dark and mysterious setting, with places seemingly designed for murder, the genre for the manga adaptation is surprisingly comedy.

The manga is by one of Japan’s renowned media giant Kadokawa Corporation, which is popular for producing Your Name and Re: Zero, among other productions. The teaser chapters gave fans a hint of what the manga adaptation will be like.

The manga follows the journey of a Wretch Tarnished through the world of the Lands Between, potentially making their way to the supreme title of Elden Lord.

The first two chapters, titled “You Thought This’d Be Serious, Didn’t You?” and “Probably Maiden,” are available for free on ComicWalker and come fully packed with filler gags related to FromSoftware’s games and fourth wall breaks.

In the second chapter, the protagonist meets with Melina, who is left confused so as to why he is wearing just his underwear and takes a jab at the Wretch class in Elden Ring.

At the end of the recent issue, the Tarnished receives Torrent, so defeating the Elden Beast seems like a faraway dream.

The third chapter of the Elden Ring manga is scheduled to release on September 19th. Both the English and Japanese versions will be released simultaneously. There will be regular updates for the manga.

A fan had recently created a hand-drawn version of the Stormveil Castle. Pretty soon, the fanart will be compared to the official manga graphics. It will be interesting to see Elden Ring reimagined in the manga adaptation.

Elden Ring is currently available for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
