Update 2.0 and Cross-Save for Genshin Impact to Be Revealed This Week?

The next significant update for developer Mihoyo’s super successful RPG Genshin Impact might be revealed in a Livestream this week.

The tip-off comes courtesy of Sukuna, a reliable Genshin Impact leaker on Twitter. According to them, Genshin Impact Version 2.0 Special Program will take place on July 9 at 5 am PT and run for around an hour.

What’s odd here is that Genshin Impact’s last update was Update 1.6. So, if Mihoyo is skipping a couple of points and jumping straight to Update 2.0, it means that the next update will be a pretty major one.

So far, we know that an all-new capital city/region, Inazuma, is coming to the free-to-play title as Mihoyo itself has teased it.

But that’s not all. Genshin Report, another reliable insider on Twitter, has revealed that Mihoyo will also announce the cross-save feature between PC, mobile, PS4, and PS5. The Switch will get this feature, too, once the port actually releases.

The ability to jump between platforms is something Genshin fans have sorely missed and thus, will welcome cross-saves with open arms. The same goes for Update 2.0, which, from rumors and rumblings, seems like an important update.

The introduction of cross-save could be an indicator of how keen Mihoyo is to keep Genshin fans satisfied. The developer recently added two-factor authentication to safeguard player data from hacking.

They have also kept fans happy with new content drops – some drops are in-game while others are outside of it.

There is no confirmed release date for Update 2.0. But seeing that updates usually drop every six weeks and Update 1.6 came out on June 8, a release around July 20 is likely.
