Hint of Grand Theft Auto 6 Release Window from Reputable Leaker

Rockstar’s previous game Red Dead Redemption 2 released nearly three years ago, and fans of the developer have been wondering when the next installment in the Grand Theft Auto series will be coming.

Rockstar Games has yet to reveal their next original project, but rumors have been pointing to it being Grand Theft Auto 6. Fans won’t be seeing this game anytime soon, but some seem to know by when we can expect the game to hit the shelves.

Twitter user ViewerAnon, known for their credible leaks from the film industry, recently touched on the topic of the next GTA. According to them, Rockstar Games had at one point set an internal release date for Grand Theft Auto 6 of late 2023.

It was also rumoured to be based in modern times. Those plans may have since been changed, but that was the latest planned release window for the game, according to ViewerAnon.

With fans so eagerly awaiting Grand Theft Auto 6, ViewerAnon’s tweet very obviously raised several questions. In a follow-up tweet, ViewerAnon also stated that Grand Theft Auto 6 would not be announced before the launch of Grand Theft Auto 5‘s next-gen upgrade. They also stated that Red Dead Redemption 2 was first revealed just a year before it was released. If GTA 6 follows this pattern, fans should expect a reveal only in late 2022.

Keep in mind that these are all rumors and guesswork. ViewerAnon is a reasonably reputable leaker, especially when compared to the majority of leakers on the internet. Still, it’s always best to take this kind of information with a grain of salt.

It may also be that these claims are just based on outdated information. As ViewerAnon pointed out, situations such as the COVID-19 pandemic may have pushed Rockstar’s plans back.

All this talk about Grand Theft Auto 6 came to the forefront because Rockstar is hiring testers, which is usually a sign that a studio has something brewing.

This, combined with the renewal of the Bully trademark, lit the fire of speculation that Rockstar may be nearing the end of production on Grand Theft Auto 6 or a Bully sequel. It’s also a possibility that the testers will just be testing Rockstar’s current live-service titles.
