Ubisoft Connect to Feature Cross-plays and Cross-saves!

Today, Ubisoft announced that Uplay and Ubisoft Club would be merged into one, and the new platform will be called Ubisoft Connect. The platform is also set to feature cross-play, cross-saves, and cross-progression capabilities.

Many will remember how earlier this year, Electronic Arts also decided to merge Origin Access and EA Access together, forming EA Play in the process.

Now, it seems that Ubisoft is also following suit, with them also creating Ubisoft Connect, a merged platform that will feature everything that Uplay and Ubisoft Club previously did.

Is it the most original name of all time? Not really, but what it provides will be of far greater value, in my opinion.

They also dropped a trailer that nicely highlights the platform’s features and capabilities:

Similar to how Uplay functions, Ubisoft Connect will be completely free, and one can easily log in using their Ubisoft Account to use it.

Other than being free, it will also feature a rewards system, where one can earn XP and pass levels by playing games, along with Units that can be purchased in-game.

Also, Ubisoft Connect will feature a different overlay than the one used in Uplay but will still retain all of the previous overlay features.

A sad thing to note here is that not all games will be coming over to the service; only the existing Units and XP will be. But the good news is that all the existing rewards are being given away for free by Ubisoft, for a near-fresh start in Ubisoft Connect.

Here’s what they tweeted out:

If you’re interested in knowing all the games coming to Ubisoft Connect, these are the only known games that will be coming over.

  • Assassin’s Creed: Odyssey
  • For Honor
  • Ghost Recon Breakpoint
  • Hyper Scape
  • Steep
  • Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege
  • Tom Clancy’s The Division 2

However, there are some titles that will not be transitioning to Ubisoft Connect. The full list can be found here:

One of the most critical changes in Ubisoft Connect is its cross-play, cross-save, and cross-progression capabilities. It means that if you’re someone who plays on PC and is switching to a console, you’ll be able to easily continue your in-game progress and be able to play multiplayer games with players on other platforms.

“The first step in transforming the app into Ubisoft Connect will be with the all-new overlay. Ubisoft’s live games, old and new, will be compatible with Ubisoft Connect services and loyalty program. Some of these titles include Hyper Scape, The Division 2, For Honor, and Ghost Recon Breakpoint, with Rainbow Six: Siege being added in an update shortly after release. Ubisoft Connect will also be included in all major upcoming Ubisoft games with Watch Dogs: Legion being the first to use its features on all platforms.”

FAQ, Ubisoft

To sum it up, Ubisoft Connect will be going live along with Watch Dogs: Legion on October 29th and installed automatically over Uplay. That said, be sure to check out all the new features being added, as well as Watch Dogs: Legion that’s coming along with it!
