Microsoft Flight Sim Update to Bring France & Benelux Very Soon!

During a Q&A session on Twitch about Microsoft Flight Simulator, the developers released important information about the franchise’s immediate future. Jorg Neumann (Head of Microsoft Flight Simulator), Sebastian Wloch (CEO and Co-Founder), and Martial Bossard (Executive Producer) of Asobo Studio were in the Q&A.

Microsoft Flight Simulator is a series of amateur flight simulators known for being one of the most comprehensive in the market. The developers, Asobo Studio, are also dedicated to continue rolling out updates to improve their games. So far, updates for Microsoft Flight Simulator have fully developed the US’s landmarks, added several locations in Great Britain, and introduced a free VR mode.

During the Livestream, the developers released a lot of information regarding the franchise’s immediate future. The developers discussed new updates, prototype features, and other things.

World Update 3 will be launched between February 9 – February 11, 2021, focusing on the UK and Ireland. While the fourth update is focusing on France, the Benelux update (i.e., Belgium, Netherlands, and Luxembourg) will also be out sometime in March 2021.

According to the developers, World Update 3 adds photogrammetry to Cambridge, Oxford, Birmingham, and Bristol, eighty points of interest, and handmade airports at Liverpool, Land’s End, Barra, Out Skerries, and Manchester-Barton.

The developers did not give many details regarding the fourth update except for a release window of March 2021 and that it would focus on France and the Benelux – Belgium, Netherlands, and Luxembourg.

The developers also discussed the features that were most requested by the fans. These included a freeware section in the Microsoft Flight Simulator Marketplace and the ability to download content through the flight sim, like the FlyByWire Simulations A32NX.

Another feature that the developers are already prototyping is a new Scenery Gateway System that would allow the developers/community members to add their edited versions to the pre-existing scenery. This would enhance the default environment for all users. Furthermore, the developers would also release weather panel improvements, Garmin autopilot systems, and aircraft enhancements in Sim Update 3.

Microsoft Flight Simulator is available for PC, while a release date for Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S is yet to be announced.
