Valheim has been seeing massive success recently. Ever since it’s Early Access launch in February, the game has been reigning supreme on Steam’s Top 10 Seller list and now players have access to some texture mods as well!
As the dust has begun to settle from the initial bug fixing and patching requirements, the devs at Iron Gate studios posted a new development update, which states that the “Hearth and Home” update for the game is going to be their main focus now.
Vikings! A little over six weeks has passed since the release of Valheim, and a lot has happened since. We have sold 6 million units and our community is steadily growing bigger and stronger, which is absolutely fantastic! […] It has been a hectic time, but worry not! We are of course still working on the game.Iron Gate Studio
A lot of you have reached out and asked about the road map. How’s “Hearth and Home” coming along? Much of our focus has been on play testing and bug fixing, but as things are calming down since launch, we can spend more time working on our first big update! We have a lot of exciting things planned for this update, and we have of course listened to your feedback and suggestions, and can barely wait until we can show you more.Iron Gate Studio
The studio also posted this image as a teaser for Hearth and Home:
Iron Gate have stated that the Hearth and Home update will be aimed at expanding the cooking and base-building aspects of Valheim, so this image is quite mysterious. It could just be a piece of decoration that you can add to your home, but this could be a subtle nod to a very well-known deity in Norse mythology. Odin, the Allfather, has very canonical ties with ravens, which is what we speculate the bird in the image is. Maybe you’ll have an Aesir over for dinner? We’ll have to wait for more info from Iron Gate for that to be confirmed.
There is no current release date or even a release window which has been announced for the update, so we can expect to be waiting a while.
Developed by Iron Gate AB, Valheim is an online open-world Survival craft co-op game. Here, players will control dead Vikings and fight Odin’s ancient enemies and monsters.
In order to enter paradise, players will have to please Odin and prove their worth to the allfather.
The journey will not be easy as at every step, the danger of supernatural entities will loom. Players will have to venture out, explore various landforms, craft, and get stronger.
