Valheim Reigns on Steam’s Bestseller Charts for Second Week in a Row

Great Odin’s ravens! Valheim is showing no signs of stopping on its path to superstardom. The twelve-days-old Viking multiplayer co-op topped Steam’s Bestseller list for the 2nd week in a row with over 3,67,000 concurrent players and rising. This makes it one of Steam’s fastest-growing hits of all-time in spite of the game currently having a World-destroying Bug.

Valheim was launched in Early Access earlier this month, exclusively on Steam and became an instant hit. Due to the game’s mix of co-op multiplayer, survival gameplay, and progression ramps with increased difficulty, the game has seen major traction from Twitch streamers and their fans.

However, unlike a lot of other games, viewership has not been the biggest contributor to the game’s popularity. The decline of the viewership graph on this chart from Steam DB is a big indicator of how people are not just watching the game but also playing it.

This puts Valheim behind Dota 2 and Counter Strike Global Offensive on the list of most-played games on Steam right now.  The game is also a mere 12,000 players behind World of Warships for a spot in the top 10 all-time record holders for games on Steam.

Developers Iron Gate AB have clearly struck a chord with players with their $20 offering which is clearly putting even $60 AAAs to shame.

This kind of success is unprecedented for a game that’s not even a month old; even the rapidly viral Among Us took over a month and a half to hit the 5-figure user mark on Steam.

Coming back to this week’s list, we have Tale of Immortal in second place for the third week in a row.

The Chinese open-world sandbox game is doing big numbers in spite of not having western localization in place. Additionally, new entries this week were PlayerUnknown’s Battleground, HuniePop 2: Double Date, and Sea of Thieves.

About Valheim

Developed by Iron Gate AB, Valheim is an online open-world Survival craft co-op game. Here, players will control dead Vikings and fight Odin’s ancient enemies and monsters.

In order to enter paradise, players will have to please Odin and prove their worth to the allfather.

The journey will not be easy as at every step, the danger of supernatural entities will loom. Players will have to venture out, explore various landforms, craft, and get stronger.
