Valheim Stone Cutting: Get Stone Blocks & Build Stone Buildings

When you get tired of your wooden starter hut and want to expand, Stone is your friend. Valheim offers many building materials, with Stone being one of them.

Valheim is a survival RPG game, and you need to survive in an unknown environment that can be very punishing. After starting with wooden aesthetics, it’s time to move up in the world and get yourself a proper stone residence.

1. How to Get Stone in Valheim?

Stone is found in the meadows and near bodies of water in Valheim. It can be easily located by keeping an eye on the forest floor and is very hard to miss.

It will be essential to get Stone in the early game as it crafts some vital tools such as the stone axe (5x Wood, 4x Stone). The stone axe will make your life easier as you go hunting for wood in the forest. As you move on, you will want to invest in a stone cutter.

2. Building a Stone Cutter

Similar to a Workbench, a Stonecutter will grant you the ability to construct stone walls, floors, arches, pillars and stairs.

Build a Stonecutter in Valheim using 10x Wood, 2x Iron and 4x Stone. The Stonecutter will unlock stone building materials in your builds menu.

Find Scrap Iron in The Sunken Crypts

Iron bars are made by using the smelter, which in turn needs Scrap Iron. Take a trip to the Sunken Crypts and locate muddy scrap piles. Mine them to obtain Scrap Iron.

Once you’ve gathered all the supplies for the StoneCutter, it should be ready to be crafted. Place the Stonecutter near your Workbench, and it will have its own range. Now you are ready to make stone buildings.

3. Making Stone Buildings in Valheim

After getting the Stonecutter, the hammer build menu will allow you to craft stone objects. Use these objects to make your new stone home.

4. Upgrade the Stone Cutter

After crafting the Stonecutter, the sharpening Stone will be unlocked for you to build. It is required to upgrade your forge with a grinding wheel. Build both of them using:

  • Sharpening Stone: 5x Stone
  • Grinding Wheel: 5x Wood, 1x Sharpening Stone
