Watch Dogs: Legion’s Source Code Has Been Leaked

A large bundle of files, almost 600GB in size, has been found on different filesharing sites, and apparently, it also contains the source code for Watch Dogs: Legion.

The claim, made by a user on 4Chan, also screenshots that showed the files’ types and the archive’s overall structure.

Not to mention, a famous ransomware group of hackers by the name of Egregor also threatened Ubisoft to leaking the source code for Watch Dogs: Legion and some of Crytek’s data.

The irony, though. A game about hackers being hacked by a group of real-life hackers. Rather poetic when you think about it.

But on a more serious note, the bundle comes out at almost 558GB in size, which really begs for it to be explored and everything it contains. In all likelihood, it contains a lot of audio files from different localizations, uncompressed assets, and other related things.

On a more unrealistic note, it could also contain assets for some of Ubisoft’s upcoming games, say, for example, Assassin’s Creed Valhalla.

What could be this bundle’s impact?

Well, for starters, all of this leaking is probably going to be the least of Ubisoft’s problems from here on out because if these files fall into the wrong hands, for example, pirate groups, they could easily crack the game and release it for everyone to play for free! This could seriously harm Ubisoft’s sales for the game, especially on PC.

But, if modders can get their hands on these files, they could seriously tweak the game to their liking or create utterly brilliant content for the game.

Also, these files can contain some of the rarest and most valuable of information related to Ubisoft, for which people might as well be willing to sell a leg or two.

Essentially, at this point in time, this entire bundle is an entire treasure trove that is simply out there, waiting to be explored, and it is yet to be seen how Ubisoft responds to these file leaks.
