“Sorry Unable to Log You in” Error – Cause & Bug Fixes – Overwatch 2

One of the most awaited games of 2022, Overwatch 2, is finally underway. However, the excitement of its release has been overshadowed by the disappointment caused by its various network issues. Since the game’s release, it has suffered from many network-related problems and bugs.

The most annoying of all is the “Sorry, unable to log you in” error.

Accompanying error code “BC-153 server login error”, the “Sorry, unable to log you in. Please try again” error in Overwatch 2 prevents players from accessing the game. This error pops up after players wait in long queues to enter the server and results from a server overloading issue that Blizzard Entertainment hasn’t been able to rectify yet.

Unfortunately, this error paves the way for other issues like the Watchpoint Pack not working and failed account merging. A few Overwatch 2 players have reported that this error is also associated with in-game skins disappearing.

The first step towards tackling an issue is to understand it wholly. Here’s a list of the possible fixes for the “Sorry unable to log you in” error in Overwatch 2 and its probable causes.

Below are a few possible causes of the “Sorry, unable to log you in” issue in Overwatch 2.

  • Mostly, the error is a server-side issue, which could be a result of the massive DDoS attack on Overwatch 2’s server on its launch day.
  • Since Overwatch 2 is a new release, it experiences massive amounts of traffic on its server daily. The excess traffic may’ve caused the server to overload.

Note: A DDoS attack is a Distributed Denial-of-Service attack where the perpetrator aims to make a specific service unavailable to its target audience.

Moreover, this isn’t a platform-based error, which means it can appear on PlayStation, PC, Nintendo, and Xbox. Additionally, it’s a start-up time issue that doesn’t just restrict players from a part of the game but prevents them from entering the game altogether.

Before moving on to possible fixes, players must ensure that they’re facing this issue while online on Overwatch 2. If, in any case, this error appears when they’re offline, there’s nothing the players can do to fix it.

Given below is a list of possible fixes for the “Sorry, unable to log you in” Error in Overwatch 2.

  1. Switch over to wired internet connections
  2. Ensure that your Battle.net launcher region is the same as the game region
  3. Connect your Battle.net account to your console
  4. Change NAT Type to Moderate
  5. Restart your router/modem

Fix #1 – Switch Over to Wired Internet Connections

Needless to say, you must make sure that you’re connected to the internet while playing Overwatch 2. If you use a wireless connection, it’s advisable to switch over to a wired internet connection.

However, if that’s not possible, try shifting you’re your gaming setup closer to the internet router/wireless adaptor.

Fix #2 – Ensure that Your Battle.net Launcher Region is the Same as the Game Region

If you’re playing Overwatch 2 on a PC, ensure that the game region and the region set on the Battle.net launcher are the same.

To set the region on the Battle.net launcher, click on the profile icon in the top right corner and note the value. Subsequently, there will be a globe icon next to the play option. Click on it and wait for a drop-down menu with seven locations to appear.

Set the location to the same value, save and launch the game.

Fix #3 – Connect Your Battle.net Account to Your Console

You should connect your Battle.net account to your console. If you don’t establish this connection, you may not be able to view Overwatch 1 items in the game.

However, if you’ve already connected your Battle.net account and console, try unlinking and linking them again.

Fix #4 – Change NAT Type to Moderate

If the NAT Type of your network is 3, C, or Strict, your game may find it difficult to connect to the server of Overwatch 2. As a result, you can ask your Internet Service Provider (ISP) to change the NAT Type of your network to Moderate.

Note: NAT Type Moderate is comparatively safer than other NAT Types.

Fix #5 – Restart Your Router

If none of the above-mentioned fixes solve the “Sorry, unable to log you in” error in Overwatch 2 for you, try restarting your router. This little trick will reset your network’s settings to default and eliminate any discrepancies on your end.
