An Easy Guide for Locating All the Butterflies – Hogwarts Legacy

Butterflies are another type of collectibles in Hogwarts Legacy. They aren’t really collectibles, but these magical butterflies will lead you to unique chests filled with some good stuff that you can put in your Room of Requirement.

There are a total of 15 butterflies, and you’ll be able to get the first one by beginning the “Follow The Butterflies” quest. Go to Hogsmeade and speak with Clementine Willardsey in The Three Broomsticks to trigger it. Once you find the first one, you’re on your own to find the rest.

These butterflies will lead you to butterfly chests which contain furniture and decor items to decorate your Room of Requirement. They’re spread across the map for you to find. Keep an eye on your compass as the location of the butterflies will be revealed on your map whenever you’re near it.

You can still track the butterflies using your compass if you lose sight of them. With that out of the way, here are the locations of all the butterflies:

1. North Ford Bog Butterfly Location

Take the Pitt-Upon-Ford Floo Flame and travel northeast towards the back of the San Bakar Tower.Follow the path, and you’ll find your butterfly just off to the right side.

2. Forbidden Forest Butterfly Location

Travel to the Forbidden Forest, the butterflies should be located in the middle of the forest. Take the Jackdaw’s Tomb Floo Flame, then head northeast and you’ll find the butterflies past a Merlin Trial.

3. East Hogsmeade Valley Butterfly Location

These butterflies are located to the east outside of Hogsmeade. You can find them to the south of the East Hogsmeade Floo Flame.

4. North Hogwarts Region Butterfly Location

Take the North Hogwarts Region or Jackdaw’s Tomb Floo Flame, then head east past the Niffler Den and you’ll find your butterflies somewhere along the river.

5. Quidditch Field Butterfly Location

These butterflies are located to the southwest of the Quidditch Field. Exit out of the castle, and go past the Quidditch Field to get them. Alternatively, you can take the Mooncalf Den Floo Flame and then head due south.

6. Aranshire Butterfly Location

Take the Aranshire Floo Flame, then head south. Continue up the hill, and you’ll find the butterflies just past the Merlin Trial.

7. Central Hogwarts Valley Butterfly Location

Take the Central Hogwarts Valley Floo Flame, and then head east. You’ll be able to locate the butterflies just off the path and near some rocks.

8. Keenbridge Butterfly Location

Take the Keenbridge Floo Flame, then head west and follow the path. You’ll come across an Ancient Hotspot, pass by it and you’ll find your butterflies somewhere alongside the path.

9. Keenbridge Bandit Camp Castle Butterfly Location

Once again, take the Keenbridge Floo Flame but head southeast of the town, and head towards the Bandit Camp Castle that you see on the map.

10. North Feldcroft Butterfly Location

Head north after taking the Feldcroft Floo Flame. You’ll come across an Ancient Hotspot, Puffskien Den and a Troll Lair. Pass those and you’ll find the butterflies just along the cliff edge.

11. Feldcroft Catacombs Butterfly Location

Take the Feldcroft Catacombs Floo Flame, then head towards the southeast. Pass the Niffler Den and you can find your butterflies following the branching path. You can also cut through with your broom, they’ll be located just outside some bandit camps.

12. North Poidsear Coast Butterfly Location

These butterflies are located just above the Tomb of Treachery Waterfall located outside the ruins. Take the North Poidsear Coast Floo Flame and go southeast. You’ll notice the butterflies just before a Merlin Trial.

13. South Poidsear Coast Butterfly Location

These butterflies are located at the south of Poidsear. Head south from the South Poidsear Coast Floo Flame, and you’ll find them just off the path right after passing an Ancient Magic Hotspot.

14. Clagmar Coast Butterfly Location

To get these butterflies, take the Clagmar Coast Floo Flame and head northwest. Alternatively, you can take the Clagcroft Shore Floo and then head south. You’ll find them below a bandit camp.

These are all the locations of the butterflies. Use your compass and it’ll help you in locating them. When the icon occurs on the map, just put a marker on it and you’re good to go.

Hogwarts Legacy is an open-world RPG from Avalanche Studio. The game places the player in the wizarding school of Hogwarts, allowing them to witness the iconic locations as a character other than Harry Potter.
