What happened to Juno in Assassin’s Creed? Is she dead? Lore Explained

Juno is one of the most crucial negative characters in the overarching Assassin’s Creed storyline, yet even the most dedicated fans seem to know very little to nothing about her.

Juno is the main antagonist of the Assassin’s Creed videogame series. She was a member of the ancient ISU Civilization that existed thousands of years before the present-day events of Assassin’s Creed.

She was born in 75,111 BCE and was searching for a way to prevent the Great Catastrophe along with Jupiter and Minerva, who eventually imprisoned her in the Grand Temple for making plans to take over the world and prevent humanity from inheriting it.

Who freed Juno from the Grand Temple in Assassin’s Creed?

Desmond Miles, the modern-day protagonist of early Assassin’s Creed titles, freed Juno from her imprisonment in the Grand Temple.

Juno Reasoning with Desmond

Despite the knowledge of her ill-intention and manipulation, Desmond had to take a stand and interact with the global aurora borealis device to save the world from the second Great Catastrophe.

The device operated by casting a shield resembling an aurora around the entire earth to protect it from the Sun’s coronal mass ejections (Second Great Catastrophe), and it also acted as a vessel for consciousness of the ISU Juno.

The device protected the world when Desmond interacted with it but consequently freed Juno.

What happened to Juno after she was freed from her imprisonment?

Juno’s consciousness spread through the web to inhabit a wide variety of networked systems called “the Grey” after she was freed from her imprisonment by Desmond Miles.

It turns out that her consciousness was too weak at that time to take over any organic vessel, so she was limited to her digital presence.

However, in Assassin’s Creed: Black Flag, John Standish, an Abstergo employee also a sage, tried to conjure her into the modern-day protagonists’ body to provide her a healthy physical form but failed because the Abstergo security shot him down.

Shockingly, Juno’s story comes to a standstill in Assassin’s Creed games after Black Flag, but it continues and concludes eventually through the comic series, Assassin’s Creed Uprising.

How was Juno revived in Assassin’s Creed?

Juno was revived by her followers called “The Instruments of the First Will” with the help of Desmond’s illegitimate son’s (Elijah) Sage DNA and an ISU artifact called the Shroud of Eden.

Assassin Charlotte De La Cruz killed Juno using the Hidden Blades with the help of Elijah in Assassin’s Creed.

Elijah had secretly vowed revenge against Richmond and Juno for all their ill actions, and once Juno was revived, he killed Richmond and helped Charlotte take down Juno for good, putting an end to all her malicious plots.
