Fan-Made Mods May Be Included in Witcher 3’s Next-Gen Update

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt has a massive modding community, sometimes even rivaling Skyrim’s, filled with dedicated fans who have constantly been improving the quality of life features and graphics since the title’s launch. Be it map-based UI tweaks, in-game pins, or just better quality hair follicles, there are a lot of mods out there, and CD Projekt Red seems to be making use of some for its next-gen update.

Halk Hogan, the creator of The Witcher 3 HD Reworked mod, had this to say,

Hello, my dear friends! It’s been a long time since the last video. I know I announced a new HDRP preview in early March, but I was silent the whole time. I’m sorry for that.

But, in return, I Do have some good news and the reason for why I was quiet and don’t have much to show. I got an official message from CDPR about cooperation. While it’s not certain just yet, it’s very likely that HDRP will be included in the official next-gen update. I will inform you about what’s next.

All we know for now is that CD Projekt Red has contacted Halk Hogan specifically, but with that info, we can assume they may have contacted others as well.

CDPR also told Kotaku, “At this time, however, we do not have any binding agreements with any such party.” If the studio is searching for some of the top Witcher 3 mods – with the HD Reworked Project currently at the top spot on Nexus Mods – we may even see the inclusion of other mods such as “All Quest Objectives On Map”, “Realistic Weather” and maybe even “Better Trophies.”

It is still far too early to start speculating which mods may be included, but we do have one lead that shows that CD Projekt Red is looking to work with fans. However, whether that pans out or not remains to be seen. If it does, we hope the fans are also compensated for their work.

The next-gen update for The Witcher 3 is expected sometime this year, but not much is indeed known about it. Since it’s next-gen, it will most likely have RTX support, DLSS, improved graphics, and better graphics. For those on the PS5, adaptive trigger and haptic feedback support too would most likely be included. We’ll just have to wait to find out.

About The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt

Developed and published by CD Projekt Red, The Witcher 3 is an action role playing game. Its plot is based on the work of renowned author Andrzej Sapowski.

The game offers a breathtaking open world gameplay  from a third person point of view.

The game takes players to a fantastical medieval world brimming with mythical beasts and creatures like Elves, Werewolves, Djinn and Golem etc.

The plot of the game revolves around Geralt of Rivia who is trusted by Emperor Emphyr to find his daughter, Ciri.

Ciri is the last inheritor to a primeval elder bloodline who has the ability to manipulate space and time.

Thus, in order to look for Ciri, Geralt goes on a quest crowded with missions and complex decision making. The best feature of The Witcher 3 is that the choices a player makes determine the outcome of the game.

The storyline presents itself with such complicated characters where one has to choose the lesser of two evils. Thus, it’s a game that doesn’t totally rely on brawn but brain too.

After finding Ciri, Geralt further helps her fight the king of the Wild Hunt, Eredin who wants to use Ciri’s power to take over the entire continent.

The ending of this game totally depends on the choices users make throughout the game. Therefore, it varies and can end either on a positive or a negative note.
