Within 24 Hours, Forza Horizon 4 Tops Steam Charts!

Forza Horizon 4, Microsoft’s latest release on Steam, has sped its way to the top of the charts. Released on March 9th, the racing title immediately climbed to the 1st place on the top-seller charts. In just 24 hours, the game has become one of the most-played racing games on the platform. A truly incredible feat, considering the game has been out for 3 years now.

By March 11th, the game had over 20,000 peak concurrent players, according to Steam. That has gone over and above the player-base of recent titles such as Red Dead Redemption 2 and Cyberpunk 2077. The game may have just barely missed a spot on the top 50 list of the most popular games on Steam, but it does have a place on the list for the top ten best-sellers on the platform.

The game was originally released for Xbox One and the PC in 2018 to widespread positive reviews. In the first year, Forza Horizon 4 accumulated over 12 million players and became one of the most popular racing games available. This Steam release is also the first time a game from the Forza franchise has ever launched on the platform. And if current reception is anything to go by, future titles should also be expected on Steam.

While the player-base may be robust, the reviews on Steam are a little less so. Currently, Forza Horizon 4 holds only 69% positive reviews on Steam. The top review, which has been deemed as “most helpful” by the Steam community, states that the game is overpriced and also suffers from several bugs and glitches.

Microsoft has been busy trying to get their games on more platforms. Other than Forza, Microsoft has already released titles such as Halo 4, Sea of Thieves and Gears of War 5 on Steam. They also plan to bring many first-party games such as Halo Infinite to Steam. This hasn’t been done since the simultaneous console-PC release of Halo 2.

Whether Microsoft will aim to get more Forza titles onto Steam is something only time will tell, but the popularity of the current title is a strong indication that they most likely will consider the platform.
