Xbox and Bethesda Conference at E3 Confirmed

Matt Booty, head of Xbox Game Studios, has confirmed that Xbox and Bethesda will be hosting a joint conference at E3 this year.

Xbox users have been eager to see what the platform has in store for them ever since Bethesda was acquired by the parent company, Microsoft, last year. Rumors have been floating around about the possibility of future Bethesda games being Xbox exclusives and if they will make an appearance on Game Pass. We expect to know more about all that and a lot more in a few weeks once E3 kicks off.

Booty revealed the plans of a joint conference between Bethesda and Xbox during an interview with Le Figaro, a French publication. There was talk of the two companies hosting separate events, but Booty has confirmed that it will be an entire crossover conference.

He didn’t detail what the conference will include, making sure that he didn’t drop any information regarding future projects that might be showcased during the event. He did share some information on the future of creative freedom for Bethesda Studios now that they have been acquired. Booty confirmed that, despite the acquisition, they would remain unaffected and that Xbox would not touch Bethesda’s publishing services.

While it has been previously stated that the exclusivity of upcoming Bethesda games will be decided on a case-by-case basis, the first significant piece of news may have angered non-Xbox users a bit. The upcoming title Starfield is reported to be an Xbox and PC exclusive. We’re just hoping the same doesn’t happen to the next Elder Scrolls game, or else we can probably expect some riots.

Other than the next Elder Scrolls, which we hope is currently in development, Xbox has also revealed it is now working on new IPs that have not been heard of before. This sounds very exciting, especially since Xbox is in dire need of new, exclusive releases. The Series X|S launched with very few exclusives, and fans are still waiting for that to be rectified. Here’s hoping that the Bethesda acquisition adds a list of games to the Xbox exclusive list.
