Both Resident Evil Village demos, the latest of which give players the chance to explore the village and castle areas, are now live across platforms.
Since they’re demos, they provide only a taste of the horror survival title and that too only for 60 minutes which is the play limit on both releases. So naturally, players are bound to feel impatient for the full game which is due to arrive in less than a week on May 7.
Thankfully, as per a report by Eurogamer, PC players have figured out a way to delay the timer on the second demo so you can play the hell out of it until the release of the full game. Sadly, this trick can be deployed exclusively on PC, so console players shouldn’t get too excited.
Here’s how you can go about extending the timer according to Steam user Leaves:
- Disable Steam Cloud for RE8 Demo
- Download Steam SAM (Steam Achievement Manager)
- Delete Local Savefiles (Located: D:\Steam\userdata\<YOUR STEAM ID>\1541780\remote\win64_save\Delete those Files.
- Start Steam SAM
- Select RE8 Demo
- Remove Achievements and Stats, confirm.
If you run the Demo after doing the above, the timer will reset to 1 Hour. However, if you don’t wish to go through the above, you could also try the game on Stadia. All you need to do is create a Stadia account and you’re golden.
The hype for RE Village has been growing steadily. The game’s first demo saw extraordinary performance on new-gen consoles while the game’s second demo ran exceptionally not just on new-gen consoles but on old-gen machines as well. What’s more, the game is going to be relatively easy on HDDs as well, so it’s a win-win on all fronts.
